The Niceties / by Shavonna Banks

I had the pleasure of returning to Interlochen Arts Academy this summer to take part in their Shakespeare Festival. Just in the last few years the festival has been able to add a contemporary play. This year it was The Niceties, a new play by Eleanor Burgess. This play is a moving, riveting and difficult play. It is touching on racism and micro aggressions in the school system and how that effects those involved. Get ready for this play to be all over the place as it is slotted to be one of the most produced plays in the New York theater scene season.

I also had the pleasure of being directed by Krista Williams and acting with the amazing Christine Marie Brown.
